Dominik and Rey Mysterio used to be tag team champions, they lost the titles to The Usos, after that they were involved in the The Judgement Day and Edge’s rivalry. When Dominik was with Rey Mysterio, he hardly got the limelight, everybody focused on Rey Mysterio. Ever since he joined The Judgement Day, his WWE career transformed completely, now Dominik is one of the major superstar in WWE.
Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE seriously considered sending Dominik Mysterio to WWE NXT before his feud with Rey Mysterio.
“While there is no chance of this happening now, before the decision to start the Rey vs. Dominik program, there was serious thought given to sending Dominik to NXT.”
