Dave Meltzer previously reported that WWE and Drew are far away from signing a new deal, ever since that report fans started speculating about Drew McIntyre possibly going to AEW after his contract expires.
Drew McIntyre recently was on WWE’s The Bump, where he talked about his WWE Hiatus, he also apologised to fans for missing WWE from last couple of months.
“I just want to apologize for everybody — that I missed my dates, I missed the towns. You know it’s not like me unless there’s a reason.
“Obviously, the rumor and innuendo is out there. What’s going on with Drew McIntyre? What’s going on with the future? The future doesn’t matter. What matters is the present, and presently Drew McIntyre is back. And if you’re heading to a WWE show, and Drew McIntyre’s there you know you’re gonna get 110%. Drew McIntyre made his return during WWE Money In The Bank, Drew confronts Gunther during his return. It is also possible that Drew could Gunther at this year’s SummerSlam for WWE Intercontinental Title.
