Randy Orton made his return to WWE during WWE Survivor Series 2023, after 18 long months hiatus. Fans went absolutely crazy when Randy Orton music hit.
Randy Orton signed with Nick Aldis to become a SmackDown Superstar. Nick Aldis promised Randy that he would give him an opportunity to take revenge on The Bloodline.
It was rumoured that Randy Orton could face Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble 2024, but WWE has decided to put Roman Reigns in a fatal four way match at Royal Rumble 2024.
Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio is reporting that Randy vs Roman was the plan for Rumble but WWE did not want Randy Orton to get pinned. Meltzer also notes that WWE believes they could make lot of money with Randy and Roman in near future.
“The original idea was Roman and Randy Orton for the Rumble. Essentially there were parties involved who did not want to beat Randy Orton this early and just felt that there’s money to be made with Randy Orton and Roman in a programme at some point but it’s too soon to do it. But LA Knight just got beat and AJ isn’t strong enough. I think AJ was the guy that they probably would have wanted because Roman can beat him.”
“I presume AJ is the one who is gonna lose but maybe not, could be LA. But the basic gist was that AJ gives them someone that can be beat, LA gives them someone they can beat. The thing with that match watching it was LA Knight is so over right now and everything but Randy Orton, I don’t know what it was but Randy Orton’s presence is really great right now, partially because he’s so freakin huge.” (H/T: Inside The Rope)
